The results are in!!

‘Slumdog Millionaire’ swept the awards last night in Hollywood, with an impressive 8 statues.  This is the second best film from the UK to achieve a high praise from the Oscars, second only to The English Patient.

The brainchild of director Danny Boyle carried away Best Picture, Best Director, Best Music (song and score), Best Film Editing, Sound Mixing, Cinematography and Best Adaption to Screenplay.

It wasn’t the only victory for the Brits as Kate Winslet , who finally got the award she longed for after 5 prior nominations and winning Best Actress.  There was a surprise win for Sean Penn who clutched the award for Best Actor over the favourite of the night, comeback kid Mickey Rourke.  The late Heath Ledger became the second posthumous recipient of an Oscar after claiming the statue for Best Supporting Actor, while Penelope Cruz won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Woody Allens flick Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Let me share with you my pearls of wisdom about this joyous occasion.

Founded by the Germans in 1869 (the same year wee was born coincidentally) by a frau named Olhausenina Weinerschnitzel in her lowly dank kitchen in Munich, she discovered that when the cow poo she was drying out on her stove (to make a hat obviously as was the style in 19th Century Germany) accidentally got mixed in with her breastmilk it made something….wonderous.

THUS (with the wonders of additives and flavourings these days) the modern pancake is now a staple meal. Once a year. Because eating poo and titty milk isn’t the best thing in the world; I mean you don’t exactly get your 5-a-day out of it now do ya?

We’re please to let all you concerned civilians know that Shaniqua has been found safe and well. It is not yet clear where she had been or who had taken her at time of press. We’re wishing both her and her adoptive mother the best for the near future.

We know this is sad news for a lot of you and that you’ve been brushing out your neon furry leg warmers, but hopefully this is only a postponement, failing that Basshunter might come and play soon. CHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!
